Now that the aging cat can no longer stalk and attack birds, I have begun a bird sanctuary in the backyard. Word has traveled fast in the bird world. What began as a little seed thrown out for a few birds has multiplied into three seed feeders, a hummingbird feeder and a finch sock.
For the past couple of years we have had two resident doves. A few weeks ago another gentle couple arrived. Today I counted 10 doves, several of which were attempting to balance on the feeder at once. So far I have counted about 30 sparrows, a few finches, 6 blue jays, several cardinals and of course my lovely doves.
I really like our new backyard pets. There is no mess in the house. They don't need a litter box. There is no fur to be shed and clung to dark clothes. I don't have to open the door to let them out, then in, then out, then in. My new friends simply entertain me with their fluttering and their beautiful songs.
Well, I guess it is off to the store to buy some more bird feed. Tweet! Tweet!

Ha Ha! I FINALLY did it!
Well, I've thought for a long time that I might try this blogging thing. Well, it's just one more of those stepping outside of my "comfort zone/doing something new" things that I am trying this year. So I have a blog. Now I just have to think of something to say. Yeah. That will be the major roadblock in this endeavor.
